Their membership consists of attorneys, public officials, academia, law students and legal professionals who work or live in the Western New York area.

The purpose of the MBAWNY is to facilitate and advance equality and excellence in the legal profession; aid in the progress of minorities in the legal profession, address legal issues affecting minorities, encourage the personal and professional development of lawyers and students, advocate for the civil rights of all people and to enhance the legal services available to minority communities.

As vice president, Popoola — who is the principal attorney for Anike Law — fulfills critical duties and undertakes responsibilities that help facilitate the organization’s success.

Popoola became affiliated with the MBAWNY through membership in the Black Law Students Association. She considers her service on the MBAWNY executive board a means to express her gratitude to the community that supported her career journey and most importantly, to pay the support forward to the future generation of lawyers.
